Man Of Many Wars

I was inspired to do this piece while sitting amongst thousands watching the Veterans Parade. The innocense of the students marching by proudly representing their school. sharply contrasted by the different emotions on the faces of the veterans themselves. Some Nam vets appeared surprised at the amount of people braving the cold weather to show them respect. Something they were cheated from when they came home. The older vets looked comfortable,as if they were accustom to this level of respect. And finally some of the younger vets had a sense of uncertainty about them as if they sense they might have to return someday.

Java

I would like to introduce a new piece, I call it Java. For many many years, my wife and I have a daily tradition. We shut out the outside world and enjoy a nice cup of coffee (or tea) and enjoy each other's company. This image is in a way from my wife's perspective, I usually finish my coffee first so that's why the cup is closer to where she would be looking at me and facing a window.

Dream World

Hello everyone! I am proud to introduce "Dream World" my latest piece. I was trying to capture what being in a dream feels like for me. I feel like a small particle in a larger capsule trying to fill that capsule with imagination, wonder, and creativity. Some people say that you cannot dream in color, well I can. I have very vivid colors in my dreams, mostly blues and yellows. That is why the blue and yellow in the panting truly stand out against this neutral background. What do you think?

WeekEnd Painting

i love to paint --they come from within my soul

I normally don't write too much detail about each piece but I do want to draw everyone's attention to the small details and essentially what I like to call "mini paintings" in each piece. There are several elements within each painting, it is not just one central focus. I like to think that the smaller elements add to the center and they all play off of each other.

Art Hop

For the past year I have been attending Fresno's Monthly Art Hop. With the mission to "enhance people's lives through art," Art Hop is an event that one should not miss out on. Featuring over 60 art venues in Fresno, Art Hop is a great way to spend the evening. Please visit their website for more information

Now onto some pictures from the Sept 3rd Art Hop.

We made a quick stop at Richard Silva's studio. If you haven't had a chance to stop by, you definitely should. His work is incredible and one of my biggest inspirations and has offered me so much guidance.

This is a picture of me looking at a portrait of Chris M. Sorensen, a well known artist from Fresno, CA. His work is truly amazing.

Started visting studios at 5 pm till 9 pm . The weather was nice the only thing wrong is we ran out of time. Our last stop was at Studio 74 had to see Hida Vandergriff work. I had a great evening with a lot of art and wine. Remember don't drink and drive, it is a great idea to car pool and have a designated driver.

Woman with Apples

Look at my new piece titled Woman with Apples. What do you think?

I really like how the apples turned out. She has some sadness in her eyes, but I think it gave her more dimension in the piece. Her cheeks are red because I was looking at my garden that has just sprouted some tomatoes.

In the studio

Hello Followers,

I would like to show you some pictures that my wife took one day of me painting in my studio. As you can tell I am one with my thoughts in these pictures.

Often times I get my inspiration from my dreams. In a week or so I will fill you in on what I was dreaming when I created this image.

Studio 74 Show

I would like to take the time to thank Diane L. Johnson-Mendes, owner of Studio 74 in Fresno, CA, for providing me with the opportunity to have a solo show from July 2-July 25. This gallery is very unique in that it showcases local art and emerging artists. Please show your support for the Fresno Art Community by visiting Studio 74.

On the day of my opening approximately 150 people came and stepped into my world of art. It was an thrilling experience to share my art with so many wonderful individuals. I would also like to thank all the people who have adopted a piece of my art. I am honored to be able to share my love of art and creativity to them.

Studio 74 is located North of Olive in Fresno's Tower District (1274 North Van Ness Ave., Fresno, CA 93728). Again, please visit this wonderful gallery.
